Obituary of Castiel Bliemeister
IN MEMORY OF OUR DEAREST CASTIEL
You came to us in January of 2020 being somewhere around 13 years old. Your first Bird Mom could no longer keep you in her care, although she loved you very much. It hurt her to see you go because you were a special bird she brought up from just an egg. You also brought your Mommy and your best friend, the three of you together, your little family of three joined ours.
Our few years on this Earth together may have been way too short, but you touched our lives forever. I doubt we will ever know a cockatiel as sweet as you. I miss feeding you sunflower seed treats and watching you pace back and forth on your perch when you were ready for more. Watching you fluff your feathers when taking your bird bath was so entertaining because you had such a great time. You were so goofy and so silly, and yet, you hold a special place in our hearts. You did not sing a tune, but what you lacked in the musical department, you more than made up for in cuteness. You were so funny with your handsome crest sticking out of the top of the cage when you were perched at the highest branch. And those PEETS! Your nickname was perfect for you because you had the longest toes, and the cutest feets. And your floofy fluffs that stuck out of your sides were adorable. All those feathers were a huge mess, but so worth your presence, that presence that is deeply missed by all who shared our lives with you.
You were the most laid-back bird I’ve ever seen; you were phased by almost nothing. You never bit anyone, almost like you didn’t have it in you to hurt or injure. Things that would annoy most birds had no effect on you. If you were startled while trying to sleep, you were so quick to close your eyes again and drift off as if nothing happened with your little head nestled in your back fluffs.
Your Mommy was so proud of you, as was I. She would not call to your buddy if he was missing, but you, if you were out of her line of sight, she would continue to flock call until you answered and told her everything was fine. Even at the age of 16, you were still her baby boy.
We all miss you dearly, but your Best Friend misses you more than anything. He misses his snuggles and preening with you and calls out for you still. I wish there was a way I could tell him that he will see you again someday, but all we can do is give him all the love and attention we possibly can until he is back under your wing – in heaven. Even though you were not a loud, noisy bird, all is quieter without you. Your warm presence is missing and every one of us here can feel it. Pepper still imitates your call perfectly, and even Mango (the bird who doesn’t like birds) was sad and solemn when you were taken to be with The Lord. You are in His hands now, and we are comforted to know He is taking great care of you.
Until we meet again, our Sweet Cas, Fly Free in Paradise
Love, Your Bliemeister Family
